Solidarity brings women together. Together they inspire, educate and encourage. The poetic evening “Poetry for Power – Every day is March 8” brought together 31 experienced artists and activists of different genres, genders, and ethnicities.
With a diversity of Albanian, Roma, Serbian, and French artists, International Women’s Day was celebrated at the Menza Ramiz Sadiku on March 2, 2023 in Pristina. This evening was a solidarity with three women heads of families from Klina, Skenderaj, and Mitrovica, cities affected by the floods.
The evening started with the poets of this evening Sibel Halimi, Arbër Selmani, Gili Hoxhaj and Shpëtim Selmani, who brought their beautiful poems to the public, which included prominent personalities of art, activism and politics in Kosovo.
The audience was also entertained by the sounds of music and interpretation of Semira Latif, Ilir Bajri, and Arian Randobrava, who were accompanied by choreography by Noa Dance Theater dancers: Altina Binaku, Qendrim Makolli, Lavdije Idrizi, Enis Mulaku, Genta Hoxha, and Ibrahim Tusha. All the dances were prepared by the master of choreography, Robert Nuha.
Actresses and activists Anisa Ismaili, Aleksandra Jovičić, Denis Galushi, Donato Giuliani, Fatmir Menekshe, Igballe Qena, Mila Mihajlovic, Meli Qena, Neri Ferizi and Shkelzen Veseli also took the stage, who once again proved the power of art and the importance of solidarity in feminist causes.
This evening was also enriched with the interpretations of the Artpolis Resident Artistic Troupe: Blerta Gubetini, Donikë Ahmeti, Edlir Gashi, Kaltrinë Zeneli, Mikel Markaj, Qëndresa Kajtazi, and Zhaneta Xhemajli.
In addition to their poems, they also performed the poems of Harold Norse, Luljeta Leshanaku, Eli Krasniqi, Suela Bako, Mario Benedeti, and the icon of Roma poetry Kujtim Paçaku.
This artistic program was led by the director and director of Artpolis, Zana Hoxha.
The tradition of “Open Mic” also brought the audience to the stage. Poet Arif Bozagji interpreted some of his poems and talked about his latest publications. And the star of Roma music Bajram Kinolli – Kafu brought the song “Djelem djelem” to close this fantastic night.
