“The Daughter”: Empowering Girls and Challenging Harassment
June 7, 2024
We’re excited to announce the Intercultural Icebreakers Programme, a comprehensive initiative designed to promote intercultural dialogue, cooperation, and exchange between the two societies. The programme, running since March 2015 by the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia (HCHR), will now take place in collaboration with ArtPolis from Prishtina and with support from the European Union.
The programme comprises three connected actions: Intercultural Exchange and Learning among Young Artists, Art Colony, and Local Displays of the Joint Artwork. It is open to emerging artists who are interested in actively engaging in establishing and nurturing cultural ties between the two communities and joint art projects.
The first action is Intercultural Exchange and Learning among Young Artists, which will take place from May 27th to June 5th. The first five days of the programme will take place in Belgrade, with a visit to Novi Sad planned, and the last five days will be held in Prishtina, including a one-day visit to Prizren.
Intercultural Exchange and Learning among Young Artists is a 10-day educational study trip that targets 20 young artists aged 18-35 years. Participants will attend lectures by relevant experts, engage in inspiring talks with established artists, visit cultural institutions and public sites, and connect with cultural workers in Belgrade, Prishtina, Novi Sad, and Prizren. They will also engage in practical work to conceptualize and plan the joint art creation.
All costs will be covered by the organizer, including:
The programme working languages are Albanian, Serbian, and English.
After several weeks of reflecting on the study trips, the same group of participants will be invited to a 5-
day art workshop called Art Colony. The purpose of this workshop is to provide young artists with the focus, time, expertise, and funds to create joint artwork that will promote intercultural dialogue, cooperation, and exchange between the two societies.
The joint artworks will be displayed or performed in several the Local Displays of the Joint Artwork action. The purpose of this action is to create popular and accessible meeting points where citizens will be connected through the language of theatre, film, photography, drawings, and/or music, and motivated to engage in discussions about improving mutual relations.

Poziv za učešće u programu
Kultura bez granica
