Voices of Hope: Youth Building Peace Through Art in Prishtina

February 14, 2025

10-13.2025

From February 10 to 13, 2025, Prishtina became a hub of creativity, dialogue, and cultural exchange as young visionaries from across the Balkans gathered for the International Youth Training.

This transformative program brought together artists, activists, and educators to explore the power of art in peacebuilding, fostering connections beyond borders and shaping a future rooted in unity and understanding. Through interactive workshops and thought-provoking discussions, participants engaged in a dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences. They explored how storytelling, theatre, and visual arts could serve as tools for reconciliation, challenging narratives of division and amplifying voices of peace.

As part of the HOPE Project – History of Peace for Education through Theatre, participants embarked on a cultural journey to Prizren and Gjakova on the third day of the training, where, guided by Enes Toska, a professional guide, they visited the Albanian League of Prizren, Gazi Mehmet Pasha Hammam, the Archaeological Museum of Prizren, the Church of Our Lady of Ljeviš, and the Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, immersing themselves in the historical, religious, and cultural diversity of Kosovo. This experience reinforced the idea that peace is built through education, dialogue, and shared experiences, deepening their understanding of the region’s complex history.

Throughout the training, young leaders collaborated on artistic projects that reflected their visions for a more peaceful future. They created pieces of theatrical performances, and multimedia storytelling projects, all centered around themes of reconciliation, coexistence, and resilience. These creative expressions served as powerful reminders that art has the ability to transcend language and political barriers, fostering empathy and connection.

Funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program, the HOPE Project empowered participants to use theatre and art as tools for activism and education, equipping them with skills to bring meaningful change to their communities.
