16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women and Girls – “The Fierce and the Furious”

December 3, 2019

November 25, 2019 – December 10, 2019

As part of the global campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, The Kvinna Till Kvinna Foundation and EuroMed Rights launched the campaign “The Fierce and the Furious” (Albanian: “E fuqishme dhe e zemëruar”). The Center for Art and Community – Artpolis joined the campaign by promoting its values and messages.

We are witnessing global backlash against gender equality. The driving forces behind this backlash are conservative, fundamentalist, and nationalist groups and movements. At first glance, they appear diverse, but their rejection of feminism and gender issues is strong enough to create common ground.

Messages shared on social media included:

#WeSay: When feminists unite, change happens!
#WeSay: Gender equality means less domestic violence
#WeSay: Equality is a beautiful tradition
“Excessive gender equality!” – #WeSay: Really?
#WeSay: Both women and men benefit from gender equality
“Feminism is only for the elite!” – #WeSay: Then why is it so loud in our streets?
#WeSay: Gender equality gives us the freedom to define who we want to be
#WeSay: Everyone is a victim of toxic masculinity
#WeSay: Gender equality is justice for all
#WeSay: We are not afraid. We will not be silent. We will not comply!
#WeSay: Societies with gender equality mean less domestic violence.

The Kvinna Till Kvinna Foundation and EuroMed Rights also published the newspaper “The Fierce and the Furious – Feminist Insights into the Anti-Gender Narratives and Movement,” which can be downloaded here.
