At the Natural Sciences Gymnasium “Xhavit Ahmeti”, the play “Behind the Screen”, directed by Zana Hoxha, was performed featuring actors Ismail Kasumi, Qendresa Kajtazi, Anisa Ismaili, Edlir Gashi, and Albana Gashi.

The performance took the form of forum theatre, opening an important and necessary debate on psychological violence and online abuse. On stage, the play explores the relationships between a group of students and their professor, who confront manipulation, control, digital pressure, and the influence of the “manosphere” in their everyday lives.

The actors embodied the roles entrusted to them by the director with great authenticity. For the students in the audience, the performance felt particularly relatable, as it addressed situations and challenges that young people often encounter in their daily lives.

Following the performance, the actors engaged in a discussion with the students, who raised numerous questions. Their reflections demonstrated that they clearly understood the messages conveyed by the play. The students became active participants in the dialogue, acknowledging that online violence also exists within the environments where they live and interact. At the same time, their responses made it clear that they do not accept such violence—they strive to challenge it and are increasingly aware of the risks associated with it.

Performances such as “Behind the Screen” are essential for our society and our schools, as they play an educational role by raising awareness among young people about the dangers of online violence and encouraging greater vigilance.

Presented in a school setting, the performance felt even closer and more meaningful for the students. The organizers from Artpolis deserve praise for their dedicated work.
