As part of the project “Design, Develop and Introduce a 3-Year Vocational Curriculum for Light and Sound Technician Profiles in the Formal Education System”, Artpolis, with the support of UNDP, organized the second focus group with lighting and sound professionals actively working in the media sector.
Participants emphasized the high demand for qualified technicians and the urgent need for a practical, three-year vocational curriculum. They recommended that the curriculum prioritize hands-on experience, collaboration on real projects, structured mentorship, formalized internships, and a strong focus on occupational safety.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of including women in these technical roles, particularly in planning and design positions, where opportunities remain underexplored.
The insights gathered from this focus group will directly inform the development of a modern, industry-relevant curriculum that meets the needs of creative professionals in lighting and sound.
This initiative is part of the Creative Industries project, financed by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and implemented by UNDP Kosovo, which aims to advance the skills and competencies of young women and men by designing, adapting, and introducing pilot courses within the formal education system that address skills gaps in the creative industries (CIs). Through partnerships between educational institutions and industry, the project also provides skilling and upskilling programmes, lifelong learning opportunities, as well as coaching and mentorship support.
