On December 3, 2025, as part of the “16 Days of Activism,” students at “Frang Bardhi” Gymnasium came face-to-face with a reality that often hides in plain sight: online violence, digital pressure, and the forms of abuse that unfold quietly behind a single click.
The forum-theatre performance “Behind the Screen,” written and directed by Zana Hoxha, served as a clear call to action—an invitation to confront the emotional and psychological harm caused in digital spaces and to refuse the normalization of violence simply because it leaves no physical marks.
The story of a teacher and her students unfolded on stage, painting a vivid portrait of today’s online environment, where toxic comments, the manosphere, manipulation, and virtual control take on tangible, human form. Each scene acted as a mirror held up to our screens—honest, unsettling, and necessary.
The highlight of the day was the discussion with students. Their engagement was active, thoughtful, and bold—posing challenging questions, offering creative solutions, and showing a willingness to question what often goes unchallenged. It became clear that young people not only recognize the problem of online abuse—they are ready to take action. This dialogue reaffirmed that we always have the power to respond, that silence is never an option, and that solidarity begins with awareness.
“Behind the Screen” was performed by Ismail Kasumi, Qendresa Kajtazi, Anisa Ismaili, Edlir Gashi, and Albana Gashi.
The performance was organized by Artpolis, with the support of the Kosovo Women’s Network and the East West Management Institute.
