At the “Xhelal Hajda – Toni” Gymnasium in Rahovec, on March 18, 2026, the stage transformed into a direct reflection of a reality that often remains hidden—behind the screen. The forum theatre performance “Behind the Screen”, written and directed by Zana Hoxha, came not only as an artistic act, but as a call for awareness and action.

In this space where virtual reality collides with everyday life, the story of a group of young people and their teacher unfolded with sensitivity and tension, revealing the dynamics of manipulation, control, and digital pressure. Themes such as psychological violence, the influence of the “manosphere,” and the misuse of technology were brought to life through powerful performances by Ismail Kasumi, Qendresa Kajtazi, Anisa Ismaili, Edlir Gashi, and Albana Gashi.

Yet, the most significant moment did not happen only on stage. Through the forum theatre method, students became active participants, engaging directly in discussion with the characters and intervening in the narrative.

“The performance today… was very good, starting from the professionalism of the actors and the improvisation during the discussion, as well as the interaction between students and actors,” said student Leart Emini. “I would also like to highlight how the parallel roles were treated… I thank Artpolis for this initiative.”

Meanwhile, student Drilona Hamza experienced the performance as an important step toward awareness: “Today we had the opportunity to watch a performance… that addressed control in relationships and the misuse of videos and images created with AI… this play gave us a strong sense of awareness.”

She added that the main message was clear: “Relationships should be based on equality between two people… they should work together against the problem, not against each other.”

In this way, “Behind the Screen” became more than just a performance—it evolved into a shared experience where art and reality intertwined to provoke questions, challenge norms, and open pathways for change.

Organized by Artpolis, with the support of the Kosovo Women’s Network and East West Management Institute, the performance demonstrated that when theatre becomes dialogue, it has the power to move beyond the stage—reaching into the minds and awareness of its audience.
