The documentary “BIBA MAY – No More” aimed at empowering individuals with disabilities premiered on September 29, 2023, at Handikos Gjakova, captivating an audience of 35 people. This documentary unfolds a compelling narrative of women with disabilities, serving as a beacon of courage, determination, dedication, and love.
The film delves into the life of Resmija Rahman, also known as Biba May, who battles progressive muscular dystrophy. Despite her formidable challenges, obstacles, and personal losses, she remains unwavering in her mission to effect positive change for the disabled community.
Following the documentary screening, a panel discussion ensued, moderated by Butrint Pasha from Artpolis. It featured Resmije Rahmani, the documentary’s central figure, director Arlinda Morina-Lika, and Islam Kasumi, each sharing personal stories, challenges, and underscoring the vital importance of supporting individuals with disabilities.
The production of this documentary was made possible through the generous support of various organizations, including the Joseph Handleman Foundation “Besoj ne Ty” (USA), the Global Albanian Foundation (USA), the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports of Kosovo, SIGMA-Security Group from Vienna, Artpolis-Center for Art and Community, as well as OPDMK, Kino Armata, Anibar-Kino “Yusuf Gervalla” in Peja, and the Municipality of Peja-Department of Culture, Handikos Gjakova. This project also received support from the Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo.
