July 31, 2025
May 9–12, 2025
This year’s edition of the Feminist Spring School brought together 19 young women from Kosovo and Serbia in a safe, inclusive space for dialogue, peacebuilding, and solidarity—set in the heart of Brezovica’s breathtaking nature, from May 9 to 12, 2025.
Over four transformative days, participants engaged in lectures, workshops, and deep conversations on feminism, peacebuilding, human rights, media, art, and intersectionality. They were guided by feminist activists and inspiring leaders from Kosovo, Serbia, Albania, and the region, including Nevenka Rikalo, Xheni Karaj, Zana Hoxha, Tamara Tomašević, Resmija Rahmani (Biba May), Jeta Xharra, and Mary Ann Hennessey.
Key topics explored included:
As part of the latter, participants joined in practical theater exercises led by Zana Hoxha, where they created and performed their own scenes exploring feminist narratives and social justice.
Organized by Artpolis – Center for Art and Community (Kosovo) and the Alternative Girls’ Center (Serbia), the school also opened new avenues for ongoing activism and collaboration, introducing participants to the Alumni Network and the “Joint Initiatives” project, encouraging them to stay connected and continue their activism beyond the school.
The open, collaborative atmosphere, nourished by nature and the spirit of solidarity, created a unique space for reflection on the challenges and possibilities faced by young women in the region. The program also included a visit to Prizren, where participants explored cultural institutions and enjoyed moments of relaxation along the riverbanks, in the heart of the old city with its rich cultural diversity.
Finally, the journey concluded with a certificate ceremony and the playful reveal of the group’s “secret friend,” marking the symbolic closure of this educational and transformative chapter.
The Feminist Spring School was organized by Artpolis (Kosovo) and the Alternative Girls’ Center (Serbia), with the support of Kvinna till Kvinna and the Global Fund for Women.
