The second part of the Feminist Spring School

December 16, 2024

12-15.12.2024

The second part of the Feminist Spring School brought together 17 young women from Kosovo and Serbia in a safe and relaxing environment in Brezovica. Surrounded by picturesque nature blanketed in December snow, the participants convened from December 12 to 15, 2024.

For four consecutive days, the young feminists had the opportunity to attend important and inspiring lectures delivered by prominent activists from Kosovo. The topics focused on sharing personal experiences in feminist activism across various fields, including art, culture, human rights, politics, and media, with a strong emphasis on peacebuilding.

The stories and insights shared by the speakers served as a source of inspiration, encouraging the participants to take on vital roles in fostering peace, dialogue, and inter-ethnic and regional cooperation through a feminist approach.

The carefully curated and emotionally resonant topics included:

• “Cooperation and the Women’s Movement since the 1990s”, by Igballe Rogova, Executive Director of the Kosovo Women’s Network (KWN);

• “Survivors of Sexual Violence and Transitional Justice”, by Jeta Krasniqi, Project Manager at KDI and Civil Society Member of the Government Commission for Verification and Recognition of Sexual Abuse during the War;

• “Biba May – No More”, an inspiring story about the empowerment of girls with disabilities, by Resmija Rahman, known as Biba May, Feminist Activist;

• “Breaking Stereotypes: Empowering Women in the Media and Unmasking Fake News”, by Jeta Xharra, Journalist and Executive Director of the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN);
