Art and Community Center – Artpolis from Prishtina in cooperation with DAH Teatar from Belgrade, initiated the creation of the Theater performance “Trojan Women – Replica” based on Euripides play written 2000 years ago, that addresses war, displacement, violence against women and children, genocide – topics that continue to be relevant throughout the world even today.
For this reason, The Trojan Women Project seeks to engage with communities with a recent history of conflict, and a desire on the part of these communities to use theatre to address contemporary issues.
The performance will be directed by two award-winning directors, Zana Hoxha from Kosovo and Dijana Milošević from Serbia.
The artistic and activist sisterhood and collaboration between DAH Theater and Artpolis spans over 15 years with exchange and networking and the Trojan Women – Replica is a natural continuation of joint growth and creation. Our feminist approach in the process leaves no room for nationalism and boundaries!
“Trojan Women – Replica” is something more than art. It is also a prophesy, a bearing of witness. And the prophet, bound to deliver his message, walks outside the regular ways of the artist. This production will span in the period of 3 years and will be made in collaboration with 15 theater, dance and music artists from two countries.
Compassion is a rebel passion. Its hand is against the strong, against the organized force of society, against conventional sanctions and accepted Gods.
Trojan Women – Replica is among central cultural event of the project Culture for Change: Towards better relations between Serbia and Kosovo through Art and Youth Activism. Partners in the project supported by the European Union are Helsinki Committee for Human Rights and Artpolis.
