The workshop “Youth Empowerment Through Cultural Heritage”, held on 28 January 2026, took place in two parts and concluded successfully, bringing together 24 young participants for a shared experience of learning and inspiration. The first part was held at the National Library of Kosovo “Pjetër Bogdani”, where participants gained theoretical knowledge about the role and importance of youth in preserving and promoting cultural heritage, and received training on the technical aspects of creating a Reel – from ideation and filming to editing and publishing creative content – under the guidance of lecturers Albana Gashi and Erzë Uka.

The second part took place at the Archaeological Park of Ulpiana, where participants applied the knowledge gained during the first session by creating creative content and turning history into visual storytelling. They were guided by Atdhe Prelvukaj and Ismail Gagica, who provided detailed insights into Ulpiana’s archaeological heritage. One participant said: “In addition to the theoretical part, we had the opportunity to apply our knowledge on-site in the same day, with very fresh and practical information.”

As a result of this experience, the youth created Reels that will be used to promote Kosovo’s cultural heritage online, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience and presenting history in an engaging digital format.

With a history spanning from the Neolithic period to its peak during the Roman era, Ulpiana developed into an important urban center known as Municipium Ulpiana Splendissima. Today, as a protected archaeological park, it not only preserves the traces of ancient civilization but also inspires young people to become ambassadors for the preservation of Kosovo’s cultural heritage.

This activity is part of Artpolis’ project Heritage Horizons: A Journey Across Generations, implemented under the BOOST Balkans program, funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and coordinated by ALDA.
