22-24.11.2024

From November 22-24, 2024, in Belgrade, with the support of NED, the Feminist Convention organized by the Alternative Girls Center in partnership with Artpolis was held to mark the 10th anniversary of the Feminist Spring School. The event brought together former participants from the ten generations of the Feminist Spring School from Kosovo and Serbia.

The convention included workshops, discussion panels, as well as networking and recreational activities, celebrating the work, activism, and sisterhood built over the years.

The main goal of the event was to highlight the importance of peace and feminist activism in the region, reflecting on and celebrating a decade of feminist activism and collaboration between activists from Kosovo and Serbia in building peace.

Zana Hoxha, Founder and Executive Director of Artpolis, was also present at the convention. During the panel “Peace Activism, Then and Now,” she recalled the challenges and successes of the Feminist Spring School. She spoke about feminist activism in peacebuilding, resistance to political crises, and the challenges that directly influenced the organization of this vital initiative for both neighboring states.

Hoxha also emphasized the contribution of activists from the 1990s, who paved the way for the development of solidarity and peacebuilding in the region.

In her remarks, she stressed the importance of free movement and ongoing cooperation between young activists from Kosovo and Serbia, especially at a time when nationalist rhetoric and anti-gender movements are on the rise.
