RISE! RESIST! UNITE! Every year in February, the One Billion Rising campaign is organized worldwide, expressing anger, solidarity, and dancing as a protest against violence towards girls and women.

According to statistics, one in three women on the planet is abused or beaten during her lifetime, which means ONE BILLION GIRLS AND WOMEN. On February 23, 2018, this campaign was organized in the municipality of Gjilan, in front of the City Theater. Many citizens enjoyed the magic of dancing, singing, and joined the revolt condemning all forms of gender-based violence.

The host of this event was the Center for Art and Community – Artpolis, in collaboration with organizations and activists: Kosovo Women’s Network; Municipal Youth Action Council – Gjilan; Gender Studies Program; Cel Kosovo; Kosovar Youth Council – KYC; PEN – Peer Educators Network; Kosovar Center for Gender Studies; ECMI Kosovo; ORCA.
