On 25 June 2026, a workshop was held in Prishtina as part of the project “Design, Development and Presentation of a Three-Year Vocational Curriculum for Lighting and Sound Technician Profiles within the Formal Education System.”

The workshop focused on the presentation, review, and improvement of the Occupational Standard for Lighting and Sound Technicians—a key document that defines the professional competencies, knowledge, and skills required for this profession in line with labour market demands and contemporary developments in the performing arts sector. After finalization, the same document will be sent for validation, which will be the basis for drafting the curriculum.

The event opened with presentations by Berat Bajrami and Zana Hoxha, who outlined the process of developing the occupational standard, the challenges encountered, and recommendations provided by national and international experts. This was followed by a detailed presentation of the draft Occupational Standard by Besa Luzha and Tomor Kuçi, who facilitated an open discussion with representatives from public institutions and the vocational education and training sector.

Through constructive feedback and practical recommendations from participants, the draft standard was further refined to ensure it is more relevant, applicable, and responsive to the real needs of the profession. Participants also discussed the next steps in developing the three-year vocational curriculum based on the approved occupational standard.

This process represents an important milestone in establishing a sustainable vocational education pathway for lighting and sound technicians, contributing to stronger professional capacities and enhancing the quality of the performing arts and creative industries sector in Kosovo.

This initiative is part of the Creative Industries project, financed by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and implemented by UNDP Kosovo, which aims to advance the skills and competencies of young women and men by designing, adapting, and introducing pilot courses within the formal education system that address skills gaps in the creative industries (CIs). Through partnerships between educational institutions and industry, the project also provides skilling and upskilling programmes, lifelong learning opportunities, as well as coaching and mentorship support.
