Dear pupils,

Artpolis – Art and Community successfully completed the online training “Costume Design” led by designer/trainer Njomëza Luci which was held on November 28^th, and December 5^th 2020.

40 pupils from 20 champion schools of Kosovo participated in this intensive training and gained knowledge about costume design for theatrical performances.

The first session (on November 28^th) addressed topics such as: the role of costumes in a performance; identification of show characters; gathering information about characters; inspiration and research; designs, usable materials and their recycling. The work continued throughout the week, working on the ‘tasks’ given from the coach Njomëza Luci, which they did diligently until late in the evening, and presenting them in their virtual groups.

The second session (on December 5^th) focused more on practical work with pupils, from distance of course, with modeling masks, colors and other materials they had in front, donated by Artpolis the day before.

Continuing online, through practical work with masks and drawings, pupils showed their talent by describing the illustrated designs, created during the week as their task. This task was taken as fun and recreation because during the week they were interactive, communicating with the trainer and asking for instructions and advice. The motivation on the part of the coach was extremely appreciated by them.

Capacity building of theater clubs was successful because pupils’ response to this workshop was very positive. All showed willingness, passion for work, talent, curiosity, energy and desire to learn more.

The engagement of the pupils gave us strength and inspiration, making us feel fulfilled and proud because we managed to get insight their hearts, opening the doors of creativity, and like this to develop their critical thinking and opening their minds to think ‘out of the box’.
