On 16 March 2026, Artpolis organized “Focus Group III: Cultural Institutions, Companies, and Festivals” in Prishtina as part of the project “Design, Develop and Introduce a 3-Year Vocational Curriculum for Light and Sound Technician Profiles in the Formal Education System,” supported by UNDP.

The session brought together lighting and sound technicians, set designers, and representatives from theaters and festivals to discuss the growing demand for skilled professionals in the field.

Discussions highlighted a significant shortage of trained operators and the increasing need for multimedia skills that combine traditional lighting and sound expertise with audio/video proficiency. Participants emphasized the importance of practical, hands-on training, standardized terminology, workplace safety, and mentorship programs.

The focus group also underscored the potential of these careers to attract young talent and stressed that well-designed training programs and dedicated practice labs could create meaningful employment opportunities and support long-term professional growth.

This initiative is part of the Creative Industries project, financed by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and implemented by UNDP Kosovo, which aims to advance the skills and competencies of young women and men by designing, adapting, and introducing pilot courses within the formal education system that address skills gaps in the creative industries (CIs). Through partnerships between educational institutions and industry, the project also provides skilling and upskilling programmes, lifelong learning opportunities, as well as coaching and mentorship support.
