The screening of the documentary “Biba May – No More” at Kino Lumbardhi in Prizren on October 15, 2023, evoked a wide range of emotions, including tears and laughter, but most importantly, it served as an inspiration for those in attendance, urging them to persevere in the face of life’s challenges. This presentation held a special significance for Biba May, who resides and works in Prizren.

The documentary unfolded the extraordinary story of Resmi Rahman, affectionately known as Biba, a woman who defies the limitations imposed by muscular dystrophy and emerges as a beacon of hope and inspiration. With a breath taking blend of storytelling and raw emotion, this film paints a vivid portrait of Biba May’s indomitable will to not only survive but to thrive in the face of adversity.

Through intimate interviews, breathtaking cinematography, and a deeply emotional portrayal, viewers were granted insight into Biba’s world, where they witnessed her daily struggles juxtaposed with her unyielding optimism and radiant joy. The audience at Kino Lumbardhi was profoundly moved, with the film leaving an indelible mark on their hearts and souls.

Following the documentary screening, a lively discussion ensued, fostering the exchange of inspiring experiences between the audience and the panelists, which included Biba May, Shqipe Malushi, Pranvera Musaj, and Zana Hoxha.

The attendees drew strength and newfound motivation to further champion the empowerment of individuals with disabilities.

Activist Pranvera Musaj conveyed her admiration and support, saying, “I want to congratulate Biba for the strength and motivation she has continued to provide us with for so many years. This film has motivated me to join the fight for the betterment of the lives of people with disabilities. I have passed through the Castle several times, so Biba, do not forget that we are the Castle; there is no war or challenge that can defeat us. We are together, and we will overcome.”

“Biba May – No More” is an ode to courage, a celebration of perseverance, and a reminder that no obstacle is insurmountable when one’s spirit burns brightly.

This documentary was made possible with the support of the Joseph Handleman Foundation “I Believe in You” (USA), the Global Albanian Foundation (USA), the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Kosova, SIGMA-Security Group from Vienna, Artpolis – Art and Community Center, as well as OPDMK, Kino Armata, Anibar-Kino “Yusuf Gervalla” in Peja, and the Municipality of Peja-Department of Culture, Handikos Gjakovë. The project also received support from the Office of the President of the Republic of Kosova.
