On February 14, 2017, the One Billion Rising campaign is organized around the world as a protest against violence against women and girls. According to statistics, one in three women on the planet is raped or beaten during her life, meaning ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.

Every February, we get up to hundreds of countries around the world to show our local and world communities how a BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS looks, as well as to shed light on the impunity and injustices that survivors face each day.

We rise through dancing to express joy and community and to celebrate the fact that we are not overwhelmed by this violence. We rise to show that we are determined to create a new kind of awareness – where violence will endure as long as it is unpredictable.
