“World Book Day and Copyright Day”

Program

April 23 is a symbolic day for world literature, as it marks the birthdays and deaths of great authors like Cervantes, K. Laxness, Vladimir Nabokov, Josep Pla, and Manuel Mejía Vallejo.

This date, chosen by the UNESCO General Conference in 1995, is dedicated to authors and books from around the world, encouraging everyone, especially the youth, to discover the pleasure of reading and gain a renewed respect for the invaluable contributions of those who have greatly advanced human social and cultural development.

The Center for Arts Development – ARTPOLIS, with the support of the European Union Office in Kosovo and the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports and project partners, organized several activities throughout the day on April 23 at Mother Teresa Square, aiming to achieve this goal in Kosovo

To celebrate Book Day and Copyright Day, the following activities were organized:

– Book Corner: In collaboration with local bookstores, offering hundreds of books at discounted prices and free registration at the “Hivzi Sylejmani” Library.

– Film Presentations: Screening of 3 films by the Golden Archive of KosovaFilm based on the works of authors Rifat Kukaj and Filip Papajani.

– Children’s Poet Corner: Where children had the chance to meet and hear from poetry authors.

-Theatrical Performance: Featuring stories from children’s books, with children themselves as the stars of the evening.

– Awards Ceremony Presentation and awarding of prizes to the top five readers at the Pristina Municipality’s “Hivzi Sylejmani” Library.

-Poetry Night: Featuring performances by various local and international authors, interpreted by professional Kosovo actors and musicians.

– 12:00 – 16:00 Children’s Poet Corner – Poetry readings for children by authors Ibrahim Kadriu and Kismete Hyseni

– 12:00 – 21:00 Photography Exhibition on the Theme of Books by French Photographer Sylvie Roche

– 17:00 – 19:00 Film “When Spring is Late” – KINO ABC

– 19:00 – 20:00 Theatrical Performance with themes from children’s books and presentation of the top five readers from the H. Sylejmani Library

– 20:00 – 21:0 Poetry Night – Performances of poetry by local and international authors by professional actors and musicians

– 20:00 – 21:3 Film “Proka” – KINO ABC
