On November 16, a group of 17 girls participated in a training session centered on feminism. During this empowering experience, the girls took the opportunity to deepen their understanding of feminist concepts while openly sharing the daily challenges and problems they face.
Leading the training was the esteemed activist Liridona Osmanaj, who passionately delved into various aspects of feminism. Osmanaj covered topics such as feminist terminology, the historical waves of feminism, diverse feminist movements and campaigns, and practical methods for empowerment. Beyond traditional instruction, the girls actively engaged in the learning process by organizing a quiz and other enjoyable games, adding a dynamic and interactive dimension to their exploration of feminist principles. The session proved to be not only educational but also a lively and collaborative space for fostering a deeper appreciation of feminism.
Sonila Plashniku, a participant, expressed that this training had a significant impact not only on her but also on the other girls, fostering cooperation between them and the trainer.
“This has influenced us to perceive feminism as something beautiful, as a movement through which we can instigate change in our country. It is crucial to delve deeper into understanding what feminism truly is, not merely as a historical movement for a specific cause. I also encourage all the boys to partake in such trainings, to enhance collaboration with one another, and to uphold respect for both sexes,” she said.
Plashniku also had a message for all the girls and women in Kosova, stating, “…don’t allow anyone to violate our rights; raise awareness about any injustice, even within the framework that all we need is equal opportunity. We possess the potential, the strength, and everything required – we just need an equal opportunity to express our true nature.”
The training, titled "Education of Young Women on Feminism," is organized by Artpolis and recesives support from the Kosovo Foundation for Civil Society (KCSF) through the “EJA Kosovë” program, co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Sweden and the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
